Truck Key Programming
Many customers visit your shop and hand you keys or fobs in disarray. Many customers will pay you to fix the key/fob.
The majority of key fobs must be programmed by turning the ignition "On and off' within a specific time frame. The vehicle will go into a programming mode, typically indicated by the door locks chiming or an audible chime.
Keys
A mechanic's ability to program and generate keys and fobs is one of the most valuable skills they have. It's an easy upsell for customers who need to replace lost or stolen keys and is a fantastic source of additional revenue for your shop.
Key programming is a specific area of automotive service that requires an understanding of the vehicle's immobilizer system and its unique methods for obtaining an immobilizer pin code from the vehicle. The process also relies on the vehicle's CAN/LIN bus systems. These are designed to make it easier to communicate between different Electronic Control Units in the vehicle or truck.
